About "Low Key" – it's a phrase that suddenly caught on, a piece of young English slang. It doesn't directly translate to "low profile" anymore; it has become multifaceted: it means secretly, it means kind of, it means unexpectedly. So sensitive, so understated, yet so candid. It is a relaxed expression of confidence, a kind of quiet luxury in today's world.
Art is exactly this kind of Low Key – constantly opening up new senses for us. Artists are exactly this kind of Low Key – able to leave behind works that trace their own trajectories in today's uncertain future. Twenty-five artists, with different geographical life experiences, different ages and life stages, different working methods and materials – yet they share the same "Low Key" quality. Their works exhibit an understated sophistication – resolute, confident, restrained, sensitive, delicate, and unexpected.
To love Low Key is to offer praise without exaggeration – an understated presence that cannot be ignored.

Low Key: A Contemporary Grammar of Quiet Luxury
"Low Key" is not a simple translation of "low profile." It emerges from the contemporary sensibility of modern English slang, carrying multiple meanings: secretly, kind of, unexpectedly. It is sensitive, understated, and candid — yet it refuses absolute boldness or absolute concealment. This is a relaxed form of confidence, a kind of "quiet luxury" that is being felt in today's world but has not yet been named.
Art naturally possesses this Low Key quality. It does not seek attention, yet it constantly opens up new senses for us. It does not rush to offer answers, but through the works themselves, it allows perception to slowly develop and take shape. Artists, in turn, are the most honest practitioners of this Low Key attitude. In an era of deep uncertainty, they do not aim to provide grand narratives or false certainties. Instead, they quietly record their own trajectories through their work — and this is precisely the deepest power of Low Key: unexaggerated, yet impossible to ignore.
This exhibition brings together twenty-three artists. They come from different regions, possess vastly different life experiences and age spans, and excel in diverse creative media and working methods. Yet, in the shared spirit of "Low Key," they display a striking consistency: their works are restrained yet delicate, resolute yet sensitive, exuding an understated sense of sophistication. This is not the flamboyance of virtuosity, but a texture and sense of measure that emerges naturally after introspection and refinement.
Anna Nezhnaya, Eirdis, Kim Byoungho, Fu Xiaodong, Gao Ludi, Guo Jian, Guo Qiang, Han Jiaquan, Hung Shao Pei, Huang Wanbing, Ju Anqi, Li Dongtian, Liu Weijian, LU Song, Ouyang Yingji, Song Yuanyuan, Tang Ya, Wang Ji, Wang Yigang, Xu Ziyun, Yan Heng, Yang Xun, Zhou Hehe — their works are brought together here not to prove some stylistic collusion, but to demonstrate how, amid all their differences, they share a conscious awareness of "measure." This is a precious quality in contemporary art: neither pandering, nor sentimental, nor loud — yet leaving a clear impression long after you have turned away.
To love Low Key is not to be afraid of speaking loudly, but to understand that true presence never needs exaggerated rhetoric.
