Don Gallery is pleased to share that ZHANG Ruyi and ZHANG Yunyao will participate in the 12th SITE SANTA FE International.The exhibition opens on June 27, 2025 and will be on show till January 12, 2026.
Curated by Cecilia Alemani, the 12th SITE SANTA FE International is titled Once Within a Time, inspired by the film by legendary experimental filmmaker Godfrey Reggio, who has long resided in Santa Fe. The work interweaves fairytale atmosphere with apocalyptic visions to explore the allegory of the conflict between humanity and technology. Under this theme, the exhibition places works by local, national, and international artists in dialogue with a cast of regional figures and local characters to probe the power of storytelling.

ZHANG Ruyi will present the metal sculpture part of her experimental project “Ambrosiar”, and a brand new development of industrial materials (sandpaper) at this International. Starting from the perspective of “residues”, the artist reveals to a certain extent the proper order that is concealed by the bizarre appearances of life and the ever-expanding social desires.
ZHANG Yunyao will continue his iconical works on felt, delving deeply into complex themes related to art history, memory, desire, power and the human condition, inspiring viewers to think about and resonate with the issues involved in the artworks.
